Tips for getting comfortable with the LC-3
What helped me go from confused to comfortable with LC-3 assembly:
- Keep a one-page reference of the instructions and condition codes next to you at all times.
- Step through code in the simulator one instruction at a time and watch the registers change.
- Comment every line with what it means in plain English, like "R1 = address of array."
- Write the program in pseudocode or C first, then translate it.

Commenting every line saved me so much debugging time.
